Missionary Life

MY FAMILY!!!!

It's been a pretty good week, we had some pretty good success having member present lessons this week, and we got 3 new investigators!! Sadly 2 of those 3 told us that they were no longer interested when we went back for our return appointment, but hey that's missionary life.  We're just sifting out the wheat from the tares!!  Finding and teaching those who are ready!!  The ward has really been stepping it up lately as well!! We've had 4 dinners this week with 3 more planned for next week as of right now!!! Elders and High Priests are coming out on exchanges with us and it's super exciting!! Two of the dinners we had this week were with families who have their own missionaries out right now, it's super weird to see the other side of the mission!!  It made me think of how blessed our family is to have two missionaries out serving!! It's awesome to hear your stories of how you are being everyday missionaries!!  It just goes to show that we've had wonderful examples growing up that have inspired us to be where we are at!!!  I love that pic of Heather and I wearing dad's old missionary stuff.  I'm so blessed to have been born as Nephi of old.  Tyler and Jessica!! I love you and can't wait for the day when you can have this incredible experience prepare now!!! It'll come so much quicker than you anticipate!! I love you all so very much and hope you have an incredible week!!

Keepin' On

Family!!!

It has been a pretty normal week.  I am pretty ridiculously tired right now!!! I don't think I have ever been as exhausted in my whole life as I have been on my mission!  It has been SUPER hot and humid this week!! we get pretty wet riding around on bikes all day.  It looks like everyone is doing good and is having fun. This week has been really slow and we've been going around to everyone we can think of to see and no one wants to hear it, but that's okay because that means we are weeding it out!  Some people eventually have to say yes at some point.  I'm glad to be in this area right now to hasten the work and help the people here come closer to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!! I miss you all and hope you have a great week!! I love you all!!

Still in Massoponax

Family!!

Having some fun!
What a week it has been! HAPPY FATHERS DAY PAPA!!!  I missed you like crazy yesterday!! It's never easy to be away on holidays like Father's day.  We were contacting yesterday in this super rich neighborhood yesterday, and we walked up to these people who were outside barbecuing and playing some corn hole (best game ever) and they started yelling at us and telling us to get lost. We started to walk away and some lady yelled out at us, "Yeah don't you two have fathers to be with !?" I told her that my father was in Utah and said have a nice day in the nicest way I possibly could (which was very hard). I love the people here, I really do.  It's really hard to see past the people they are and see the people they can become sometimes though.

Transfer calls came and I will be staying in Massaponax with Elder Gambles, by the end of this transfer I will have been in Massaponax for 7 and 1/2 months! I'm excited to have 6 more weeks to learn to love the area, my ward, and my companion.

We eat a lot of rice!
I miss you all so very much, It's crazy that Heather and I have been out here for 16 months!!  This work is so true!! I have learned to have the faith to fail!!  How to take hardship and trials and rely on the Savior.  I'm so grateful to be a missionary. Have a great week!

FBI Academy

Dear Family,

AHHHH no time!!!! I have like 10 minutes to write this email!! so there might be some grammatical errors but just bear with me I'm going to try to write as much as I can!!  Yesterday was probably the best P-Day of my life!! I had so much fun!!
We went up to
Quantico ( an army base) with our zone leaders and one of their members. It was like an hour and a half away, so we left at around 7 and got a tour of the FBI training academy.

The zone leader's member has been an instructor there for 13 years. We were there all day doing the trainings that they do and he ran us through a workout in their gym and it was just the most fun P-Day thing ever!! , It was way cool, I don't have my camera on me because I am on exchanges with the ZL's right now, but I will send them to ya next week!! and I will also be able to tell you what is going on with transfers.  Yup transfer calls are this Saturday so I will be able to find out if I'm leaving or not.  I am good either way.  I will definitely miss some of the members here, but I don't even know if I'm leaving. I could be here forever :) who knows, it's all up to the Lord!!  I love you all so much!!! I promise I will get a better email with some good pics next week!! Have a fantastic week!!

I Love Missionary Work

Dear Family!!

I love you all so much and miss you!!!!  It sounds like you all are going to have a blast this summer!! Beach parties, time with family, soccer games, dance, and dad taking pictures of it all with his brand new nifty newcam6000!!! You think I might be a little bit jealous.. ( I might be) but you all* should be jealous of me and Heather right now!! I mean we get to spend our entire summer finding teaching and baptizing some of Heavenly Father's prepared and elect children!!!  Heather!!! this is such an awesome thing we're doing, That Mom and Dad have done, and that Tyler and Jessica will one day have the opportunity to do!!!  Dad I hope your not joking about the 3 month trip to Taiwan, South Africa, Thailand and Virginia.... because I AM SO DOWN!!! just sayin...

Mother you asked me some questions: Will you get to go to the temple in your missions before you go home? I will at least get to go once, at the end of my mission, but I will also get to go with my recent converts that I baptized in September!! they are coming up on their year mark and I get to go through the temple with them!! What is the closest temple to your mission? The Closest temple that is around here is the D.C. Temple.. it's actually in Maryland, but it is one of the most beautiful temples in my opinion (from what I can tell from pics).

What is the best thing that happened this week? The best thing that happened this week was finding a lady who had been taught by missionaries 10 years ago and wants to be baptized, at Burger King.  We were with Sister Sanders if you remember her, she is a sweet old lady whose husband passed away, we meet her at restaurants because members won't come with us to her house and be a third male, so we have to meet with her at public places.  We were talking to her about missionary work and we said, "Do you know what else we do as missionaries? we talk to everyone!!" we asked her what she thought that meant and she said, "well, guess it means you talk to everyone you see.  right then some people walking in the doors of BK I got up right away and me and Elder Gambles started talking to Brittany!!!  She is going to be baptized!!! AWESOME!!  Super cool miracle!!

Did you have a chance to perform service for anyone?  Definitely!! we helped move a new family into our ward!! they are way cool and live in the same apartment and said they would feed us every day if they had to!!! they are legit!!!

Are there less actives or no members that you can give service too?  There are some less active members that are moving out sometime this month.  We are helping them :)

This has been a hard week, we set up 11 lessons and all of them either cancelled or rescheduled!! but it was all for a purpose!! I love being a missionary!! I love and miss you all so much!!!!!!  THIS GOSPEL IS SO TRUE!!!

Love, Elder Sahagun

This is Mark Brown, aka my favorite member in the world!! you should friend him on facebook and thank him for changing your son's life!!! He was the only elder going out on splits with me and Elder Wood for a LONG time!! He is an incredible member missioary and...  he's moving :( and I'm going to miss him A LOT

My Dear Family!!

We are Strong!
This week has been pretty great! we had Zone Conference this week!!  I always love it, all of the trainings were on how to get our investigators to progress towards baptism!! Needless to say that ALWAYS pumps me up!! I love hearing from President Wilson, pretty much he's da man.  Also got to hang with Elder Jordan Holman, for a little bit.  It's always good to see familiar faces! It was weird talking to him about all of these things from high school. seems like forever ago!!

So I got a package from you guys of that mission map thing!!  It is was cool!! I love it!! where did you get it??

When He is with us!
Cool thing,  We've worked out this deal where we get the sisters car once a week to go do missionary stuff, pretty much love it.  especially since this summer is suppose to be a really bad one. as far as heat and humidity go.  I was actually informed that last summer was a "mild" one.  If that's true, then I may need some extra prayers this summer. cause I thought last summer was pretty bad.

So right now we are teaching this kid named Brian Byrd.  he's was tight and wants to be baptized but it has been a struggle for us to get him to church.  It actually is a struggle for all of our investigators.  Either they work or they come up with another excuse.  It's a little frustrating. "JUST COME TO CHURCH!!"   (random quote from the District 2)

We had a way cool experience on member exchanges this week.  We were driving through this neighborhood with Brother Roberts and I saw some guy outside doing yard work.  and I felt like we should go talk to him.  I told Bro Roberts to turn around.  we got out and talked to him and he said his name was Dan and that he had gotten and read one of our pamphlets and he said he agreed with everything he read in it!! we talked to him for about 10 minutes and set up a return appointment for this saturday!! It was a way cool thing to be able to see the fruits of following a prompting.

Being a missionary is awesome, and exhausting!! but I love biking around talking to people about Jesus Christ and teaching the Restored Gospel to anyone that will listen!! I hope you can all find the little opportunities that pop up in your lives to share the wonderful message that we have!! I love you all and hope you have a great week!!

Love

Elder Sahagun

We want to share His word with you!

FAMILY!!!!
Elder Sahagun and the Virginia trees!

Such a great week!!  Baptismal interviews and baptism, finding new investigators, and teaching people about the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Could life get better??  I submit that it cannot!!

So yeah on Thursday I got to do 3 baptismal interviews!!  It was such an incredible spiritual experience, I loved interviewing Ethan (10years old) it was incredible to see how much of the Gospel he has learned and the strong testimony he already has!!  I was super nervous but it all went really smoothly and they are just super prepared and ready!!!  this has been a long time coming for them and I was so excited for them!! it was an incredible baptism!!  I was so happy to be a part of it!  I got to do a musical number and Elder Gambles and I also got to teach the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!!  It was awesome!!

I'm loving serving as a District Leader!!! Had my first district meeting this week and it was way cool!! I have such an awesome group of missionaries!!  It's pretty stressful sometimes but I feel like I have learned a lot just in the past 2 weeks or so!!  I'm super excited to just serve them!!! it's way awesome and I'm super grateful for this opportunity that the Lord has given me!!

I am loving serving with Elder Gambles!!  We are starting to really pick up the work in this area!!  and I know that we can do a lot through the spirit to change this area.   Mom that E-Mail you sent was super inspired!! me and Elder Gambles were talking about that just last night!!! Thank you so much for that thought!! It really helped me to have a better perspective on what I can do to improve as a companion. I loved all of those Pictures you found on facebook!! awesome!!

I will try and take more pictures this week, I hope that you guys have a Phenomenal week filled with missionary experiences and opportunities to Open Your Mouth!!!  I love you all so very much!!

Love, Elder Sahagun
